Horizon West Community Church Wedding | Marcos + Desiree

From Ashley + Jacob: We’ve never had a former bride write a blog post before but we are lucky enough to have her guest write for us for her own wedding! Tell us how you like it; we’d love to hear more from our fabulous brides!

It’s such a blessing to be able to write a blog post about my own wedding! Ever since I can remember I’ve loved dusty greys and lavender and knew that I would use them in my wedding day some day! Our rustic lavender wedding inspiration really came from Marcos’ Argentine culture and the dreamy colors I love so much. We got married in an outdoor ceremony and reception at Horizon West Community Church.

Marcos and I’s first look was in the heart of Winter Garden where we dream to raise a family one day. The oak trees and sunlight could have not been any dreamier that day. My bridesmaids wore shades of grey, lavender, and mauve. I wanted each girl to feel like herself so we opted for different silhouettes and colors for each one. I may be biased but they all looked stunning and their simple lavender bouquets served more than one purpose! The girls got to take them home and dry them leaving a fresh lavender scent where ever they left it.

Marcos sported a monochromatic suit from Zara and a wool tie from Penguin. It was the first suit he tried on and we both just loved it! The guys were head to toe in H&M. It was really important to us the guys looked sharp and had more European cut suits that didn’t break the bank!

I absolutely loved my dress! I got it from Calvet Couture and as soon as I stepped out in it I was so comfortable; it felt made for me. I wanted to add my own touches to it since I studied fashion and its been a long time passion of mine. I took it to The Seamstress in Winter Park and added custom tulle sleeves with lace imported from Spain. We added more lace around the bodice as well to make it a little more visible. It came out more perfect than I imagined and they really helped me accomplish my dream dress!

My inspiration for the ceremony was for it to be as dreamy as possible without it going overboard. Touches of baby’s breath, white hydrangeas, & ivory rose along the aisles really gave it a delicate touch. We got married at our family’s church in Horizon West and the entire property is laid out with hundred year old trees. It was really fitting for us to choose to get married here since we met at a church activity! Our guests were greeted with pictures from generations past as they walked in and our altar was centered below a vintage pot & pan holder I decorated with baby’s breath and eucalyptus.

A running theme throughout our wedding was that we really wanted it to feel homey. We used my mom’s rustic kitchen table we grew up eating around for our sweetheart table and her hutch for our cake table as well. I went through an absolute succulent kick (that I am still on) and went crazy for these adorable little plants! We gifted them to all our guests and my friends and family have managed to still keep them alive and blooming! Every time I come over and see one it brings me back to this day.

Marcos and I went a little DIY crazy and he built all the rustic farm tables by hand! I had no idea my future hubby was such a carpenter! He built the corn hole toss’ and directional signs as well. We are really fortunate that he is a graphic designer and all the signage and invitations were done by him. A fun project of ours was refurbishing an old coffee cart and displaying all our favorite goodies on there. We of course had Argentine alfajores and pasta flora and a family favorite, Puerto Rican cheese pastries. I was too preoccupied to eat my dinner but filled myself with a few of these!

We were sent off with chinese lanterns and sparklers towards the end of the night while all our friends and family gathered around us in a circle as we danced our last dance to Mirrors by Justin Timberlake and it seriously felt like a music video moment! The night was magical in more ways than one and is one that I will never in a million years forget.
