Walt Disney World Wedding Pavilion | Elizabeth + Scott

For two lovers of all things the mouse and Star Wars, choosing the Walt Disney World Wedding Pavilion and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort to begin their happily ever after was a perfect choice.  Elizabeth and Scott’s unique wedding with its Disney classic love stories and Star Wars touches was a delight to photograph.

Elizabeth gets ready for her big day at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.  She is wearing a Justin Alexander, ivory and silver A-line ball gown from The Bridal Collection.  It has lots of crystals and beading in what she calls “beautiful chaos”.   Her four attendants are in various styles of blush pink, chiffon gowns.  Each carries beautiful bouquets of pink roses and baby’s-breath.

The ceremony, at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, is situated on its own private island on Seven Seas Lagoon.  It certainly has a romantic feel, evident in the Victorian spires, vaulted ceilings, and arched windows.  While they are saying their vows, Cinderella’s Castle is in perfect view behind them.  Since the best man “forgot” to bring the wedding rings, Disney’s Major Domo saves the day by bringing the rings to the alter on a silk pillow, nestled in a glass slipper.  The marriage portraits are taken throughout the beautiful gardens and grounds of the Wedding Pavilion.

Their Star Wars themed reception was a thrill to photograph.  Especially creative are the centerpieces designed by Elizabeth and Scott.  Guests sit at tables named after a different Star Wars planet.  Everyone was surprisingly delighted when R2D2 and two Storm Troopers came in for a visit.  Their incredible cake, in a galaxy of its own, has an Imperial Star Destroyer on it surrounded by TIE Fighters.  It’s topped with “I Love You to the DEATHSTAR and Beyond”.

After enjoying much dancing, Elizabeth and Scott send their guests away with Storm Trooper mouse ears.  May the 4th be with them in their new life journey.

Mission Inn Wedding | Matt + Lauren

Lauren and Matt were hoping for a relaxed and romantic wedding day.   The Mission Inn wedding venue was just what they were looking for surrounded by grand cypress trees, covered in hanging Spanish moss and a beautiful view of Lake Harris.

It was very important to them for their first look to be natural and in-the-moment.  We shot this intimate moment on a bridge with Lauren walking up to Matt.

They decided on an outdoor ceremony under the shade of a mighty cypress tree and with a view of Lake Harris.  For a guest book, all in attendance signed the couple’s Love Letter, the letter “T”, to commemorate Matt and Lauren’s new life together.   Lauren wore a stunning white, mermaid-style gown with a lace overlay from Calvet Couture Bridal.  Her attendants were in shades of slate blue and blush pink chiffon gowns.

The reception, held at Mission Inn’s Marina del Rey, has a casual, rustic feel to it.  The tables are decorated with shimmering candles, floral centerpieces with splashes of the blue and pink and a cake pop favor box for each guest.     Their band, which Matt plays the djembe drum with, is “chill and soulful”.  “Love was in the air” as Matt and Lauren and their guests danced.  The night ends with their guests ushering them out to a sparkler exit.

Orchid Garden Wedding  |  Mary + Landon

The sophistication of the Orchid Garden Wedding venue in downtown Orlando, Florida has the perfect feel for the “speakeasy” era wedding of Mary and Landon.  Orchid Garden, known for its sweeping staircase and grand balconies, is one of our favorite venues downtown.

Mary and Landon had their ceremony on one of the balconies with their wedding party standing by on the staircases and their guests looking on from below. Their portraits were taken in the outdoor courtyard and on Church Street.

Mary wore an ivory, A-line gown from Solutions Bridal.   Her bouquet, designed by Lowe and Behold, was a stunning combination of peonies, anemones, grape hyacinths and ranunculus accented with pheasant feathers .  They added a personal touch to her bouquet, lockets of their dear grandparents photographs who had passed away.   The bridesmaids likewise had beautiful bouquets that were accented by their flowy gowns of light rose, soft lavender and pale pink.

To delight their guests Landon and Mary chose to have a cake bar instead of a main cake.  Mary explains, “I like the idea of multiple, unique flavors for people to choose from.”   Guests also enjoyed Favor Flavors for sharing in this celebration of love.

Mary and Landon made a grand sparkler exit with a limo standing by to take them away.

Highland Manor Wedding | Ashley + Thad

The historic, elegant Highland Manor was the perfect location for the wedding of Ashley and Thad.  This beautiful, grand home with its southern charm was just what Ashley envisioned for her Florida wedding.

Since they both have a love of the outdoors, the oak-shaded lawn of this Highland Manor wedding was the natural backdrop for their ceremony.  With family and friends watching,  Ashley and Thad said their wedding vows with Ashley’s uncle officiating.   Their ceremony included closing their wine box with love letters written to each other which will be opened on their first anniversary.  After the ceremony, we took marriage portraits  on the picturesque grounds throughout Highland Manor.

Ashley was stunning in her ivory, lace from Solutions Bridal Designer House.  Her bridesmaids wore light pink dresses.  They each carried bouquets of light pink and white roses made by Dream Designs Florist + Wedding Boutique.

Their reception, held in the Crystal Ballroom at Highland Manor, was decorated with a soft, romantic feel.  Her colors of pink, ivory, shimmery gold, and charcoal grey are seen in the floral arrangements, candles, the cake and party favors. For a personal touch, Thad and Ashley had photographs of themselves on each table indicating the table number.  After a night filled with dancing, they made their exit with family and friends sending them away in a cloud of bubbles.  Apollo’s Chariots Inc was waiting with a limo to take them away.

His Proposal –

“Family is extremely important to me”,  Ashley said.  Thad knew he had to “incorporate them into this whole ordeal”.  Thad’s proposal reflects this love of family…while hosting Thanksgiving dinner for both sides of their family, everyone gathered outside to see Ashley’s new horse.  “I was feeding my horse some carrots and didn’t realize that everyone had formed a half circle around me.  Thad told me me he needed to ask me something and when I turned to look at him, he was on one knee.  It was so sweet and perfect.”  Just like their wedding.

Talking about boudoir sessions can be tricky. I hear it all the time, “But I would just look silly, I don’t know how to be sexy.”  Whether the session is just for you or as a gift to your significant other, a boudoir shoot has everything to do with celebrating who you are. The only way you will look “silly” is if you don’t allow yourself to have fun! I want to share with you three of the most telling questions I have gotten about boudoir sessions:

Sanford Boudoir Photography Studio-01

How do you create a comfortable environment for your client?

I’ve found a few ways to help put my clients at ease.  First, I try to help out as much as possible before the session by helping to pick out the outfits, taking the time to get to know them, along with sharing tips to help make the best session possible.  Every session includes a professional hair and makeup styling, this gives the client an extra boost of confidence right from the start. Before we get started I make sure to fill the studio with their favorite music and hand them a glass of champagne, both really help with the butterflies!

How do you assure a client that each shot portrays confidence during the session?

I typically start with the outfit that I think they will feel the most comfortable in, this allows the client a chance to ease into the session. While in the first outfit I start to get a feel of what seems to feel the most natural for the client and note what poses and angles work well. I’m reassuring the client and talking them through poses throughout the whole session. Sometimes I will even share a photo or two off the back of camera so they see they are doing a great job.

How do you help them to unlock their sexiness?

I encourage them to be themselves… If they want to smile I suggest they smile, or laugh, or be sexy but most of all be confident with who they are right now!  Like I said, whether the session is for the client or for their significant other the point is to celebrate the client as they are and I want them to know that.

These questions are similar in root, how can an almost stranger become comfortable in front of the camera? The answer is relatively simple, embrace what feels good to you and the moments captured look natural. When you feel good you will look confident, guaranteed! For more boudoir session style inspirations our friends over at Adore Me have shared this handy little guide with us.  Check them out if you’re looking for the perfect lingerie to make you feel confident and sexy!
